Administration The library is overseen by a 3-member Board of Trustees and a 5-member Board of Advisors.Our Articles of Incorporation specify that Trustees and Advisors must be residents of (registered to vote in) East Dennis.
Trustees Trustees are elected for 3-year terms by the residents of Quivet Neck at the library’s annual meeting in May.Trustees may serve two consecutive terms.Our current trustees (and the dates their terms expire) are: Phil Catchings (1st term expires May, 2024) Jennifer Kinder (1st term expires May, 2025) Donald Hunter (1st term expires May, 2026)
Advisors Advisors are elected for 1-year terms by the residents of Quivet Neck at the library’s annual meeting in May.There is no limit to the number of terms an advisor may serve.The Board of Advisors has been relatively dormant for the past few years, and we are seeking candidates to fill several vacant positions.Advisors are encouraged to participate in activities of the Standing Committees (see below).Our current advisors are: Thomas Walsh, Dyanne Cooney, Donald Hunter, Eli Whitney, and Lois Katanik
Standing Committees JSML’s Bylaws provide for several standing committees to support aspects of the library’s operations, including Building and Grounds, Programs and Events, Library Services, and Finance. Committee members are appointed by the Trustees and Advisors.There are no residency requirements or term limits for Committee members. We are actively seeking volunteers to serve in all the roles described above and to bring fresh ideas and energy to bear. Town of Dennis Library Board Each library in town has one representative on the town's Library Board. Representatives of the village libraries are nominated by the trustees and appointed by the Dennis Select Board. Our current representative is Lynn Carlson.
