Administration

Administration
The library is overseen by a 3-member Board of Trustees and a 5-member Board of Advisors. Our Articles of Incorporation specify that Trustees and Advisors must be residents of (registered to vote in) East Dennis.

Trustees
Trustees are elected for 3-year terms by the residents of Quivet Neck at the library’s annual meeting in May. Trustees may serve two consecutive terms. Our current trustees (and the dates their terms expire) are:
Paul Katanik (2nd term expires May, 2022)
Fred Petti (2nd term expires May, 2023)
Phil Catchings (1st term expires May, 2024)

Advisors
Advisors are elected for 1-year terms by the residents of Quivet Neck at the library’s annual meeting in May. There is no limit to the number of terms an advisor may serve. The Board of Advisors has been relatively dormant for the past few years, and we are seeking candidates to fill several vacant positions. Advisors are encouraged to participate in activities of the Standing Committees (see below). Our current advisors are:
Thomas Walsh
Dyanne Cooney

Standing Committees
JSML’s Bylaws provide for several standing committees to support aspects of the library’s operations, including Building and Grounds, Programs and Events, Library Services, and Finance.
Committee members are appointed by the Trustees and Advisors. There are no residency requirements or term limits for Committee members. The Committees have also been dormant recently and we hope enough of you will be interested to bring fresh ideas and energy to bear.
We are actively seeking volunteers to serve in all the roles described above. As we all rebound from COVID-induced constraints, please help us sustain the library’s long tradition of community involvement and engagement. If you would like to learn more or explore where your interests and talent might best fit, please feel free to contact any of the Trustees. We look forward to hearing from you! And residents of Quivet Neck, please plan to attend our annual meeting in May (date TBD) to vote for the Trustee and Advisors.
