The Town of Dennis will be reconstructing Center Street in the next few weeks which will affect the ease of coming to our library.
The reconstruction project includes:
Excavation and installation of new drainage systems;
Removal of the existing pavement and road base;
Building and grading a new road base;
Paving the road;
Repairing driveway aprons.
Work will take place between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm. Excavation started yesterday, 7/29/26; the Town Engineering Department expects the work to take approximately 3-4 weeks. They say the road will be open to traffic at all times, but there will be times when access by car is limited or difficult. The library will be open our usual hours (Mon-Sat, 9am-1pm). There will be no parking in front of the library but the church parking lot will be available. The crews will leave the road passable when they leave each afternoon, so if you are unable to reach us safely during our open hours, you may use the book drop to return books after 4:30. If you cannot get here to pick up your materials, please call and we will make arrangements for delivery.
