Summer Art Show and Raffle!
Thank you to local artists Ben McLaughlin, Shawn Dahlstrom, Patti Conciatori, Susan Laufer, and Phil Inman for donation their work to our fundraising raffle! The raffle raised nearly $700 for the library!

New Computers Available!
Thanks to the Massachusetts Broadband Institute, JSML has received three new Dell pro 14 laptops, an ergonomic large-print keyboard, and two Dell Chromebooks. The Chromebooks will be available to be checked out.
This new equipment is courtesy of a generous grant to the Dennis Library Network of technology hardware and software from the Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI), a division of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MassTech), through its Connected and Online Program. These grants are intended to help address online affordability and accessibility issues, with particular emphasis on expanding online access for education, workforce development/ employment, and healthcare by enabling remote learning, work, and virtual health services.
Two of the new computers will have special accessibility technology:

- JAWS (Job Access With Speech) is a screen reader that converts computer screen information into speech or Braille allowing the low vision or blind user to navigate windows, navigate the internet and read documents without relying on sight. It provides full keyboard accessibility, reading text aloud and integrating applications such as Microsoft office and web browsers. JAWS also allows speech to text, making it easy to ask the computer to perform tasks.
- TD Snap® is a flexible, robust communication software for people with speech and language disabilities. It combines evidence-based, professionally developed page sets and easy-to-use editing tools to create a personalized experience that meets an individual’s unique communication needs and is accessible via touch, eye gaze and switch access methods.
